After much hinting and speculation, Stephen Colbert has finally announced his run for president on Tuesday the 16th of September. His announcement came about, on his own show none the less, “The Colbert Report.” This episode came following his guess appearance on Jon Stewart’s show, “The Daily Show.” Colbert said, “I will see how I do in South Carolina before moving onto other states.” This is why we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE everyone in South Carolina to not only vote, but do everything they can to help support Colbert in his first, and critical primary, which is expected to be held on Jan 26th. Immediately he has been doing things “very untraditionally” as we he stated that he is going to run as both a Republican and a Democrat. The basis for this he says is, “I’d let the people decide what party I belong in, I don’t dictate the peoples actions.” Even after this statement is appears the Mr. Colbert is leaning toward the Democratic Party. About three weeks before the show was taped this staff had called Joe Werner, the South Carolina executive director for the Democratic Party. There is no clear cut running mate for Colbert, although he has joked about running with Republican Mike Huckabee, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and even himself. We will have to wait and see how serious Mr. Colbert is about running for president, and we should get a better idea after Nov 1st as that is when paperwork must be filed and turned in for acceptance for both political parties.
